Almost everyone is bad at everything... on purpose.
It is remarkable how bad most people are at most things...
...and how the world is built to support them, leaving the rest of us at their mercy.
Think about all the systems you have to go through just to do simple things.
All in service of people that want to give the impression of intellect and competence... or as the meme below calls them, midwits.
These people are the bulk of the population... and thus almost everything is done to accommodate them and give them power through inefficiency.
They aren't the dumbest people in society... those people are actually less harmful.
These people love to think they are smart and capable... big words, strong opinions, degrees, levels of corporate bureaucracy, regulations that accomplish nothing etc...
Don't let them fool you into thinking they are competent or valuable... they can't get results.
Actually competent people just do what it takes... the shortest path from nothing to result.
These people however HATE people like that.
They don't want people that deliver results without going through all the elaborate systems, hierarchies, and bureaucracies they create or at least maintain.
They use the systems to create who can do what and how... because that's the only kind of power they have in their lives because they can't do anything tangible.
It's the only way they get power because they can't actually produce anything that matters.
You see this a lot in corporations... internally and externally.
Internally they have meetings to plan meetings, want calls to talk about minutia, and worry about anything but how to deliver a product or service at a profitable rate.
Externally they create things like authorization forms, expiration dates (there is NO REASON for credit cards to have expiration dates), policies on when you can and can't do stuff and on and on with unnecessary inefficiency.
All of this makes them feel smart and powerful... but what they are really doing is holding back the rest of society because they refuse, or are incapable of doing anything of actual value.
Colleges, corporations, governments... all run by these people.
And because of this the people with the potential to be on the right side of the curve end up going nowhere because this all gets incredibly confusing for them because they think in results and can't decipher this nonsense.
Don't let this be you.
Stop dicking around.
Identify results, then take the shortest path to get to them, then leverage those results to get more results.
That's how you get ahead in a system built by midwits...
...for the rest of the time just refuse to play their game as much as you can.
Ignore their rules if they prevent you from getting to results.
Don't let them tell you something "has to be this way"...
...keep creating power, leverage, and influence for yourself so you can simply refuse to play as often as you can.
Build an audience, build financial resources, build power for yourself, let nothing go because it is easier, punish these systems for making things more difficult.
My entire business arose from this... when the marketplace I was selling on at the time went to shit... I figured out a way to do it on my own rather than waiting on some random dev or support ticket or whatever to fix it for me.
That's a big example... there are plenty of little ones daily.
The point is don't let these midwits think you are at their mercy... remove their useless systems from the equation as often as you can...
...but understand you can't fully escape them.
Credit card companies will still make you get a new card every few years and thus fuck all your subscriptions for no reason.
Airlines will still change flights around whenever it suits them with no explanation (this is somewhat mitigated by flying private but that just changes what pain in the ass problem you have to deal with).
And accept that people will make every excuse for why they need systems and can't get results... go look at my recent post about copywriting and see the comments for a great example.
But don't let these midwits run your life completely.
Become powerful, and difficult to resist because you get results.
All of this starts when you...
Think Big.
